Feldspar is an aluminosilicate mineral, such as potassium, sodium, calcium and other alkali or alkaline earth metals, also called feldspar minerals.
Potash feldspar (KAlSi3O8), also known as orthopyroxene, belongs to monoclinic system, usually in flesh red, white or gray. The density is 2.54-2.57g/cm, the specific gravity is 2.56 to 2.59g/cm3, and the hardness is 6. The theoretical components are SiO2 64.7%Al2O3 18.4% and K2O 16.9%. It has the characteristics of low melting point (1150 + 20 C), long melting time and high melting viscosity. It is widely used in industrial sectors such as ceramic billet, ceramic glaze, glass, electric porcelain, abrasive materials and so on.
In addition to orthosite, there are two homogenous varieties: Feldspar and potassium micro plagioclase. The former belongs to monoclinic system, also known as orthopyroxene, while the latter belongs to three diagonal system.
In addition to the glass industry as a raw material (about 50 - 60% of the total amount), the amount of feldspar mineral accounts for 30% in the ceramic industry, and the other is used in other industries, such as chemical, glass flux, ceramic body batching, ceramic glaze, enamel raw materials, abrasive Abrasives, glass fiber, welding strips and so on.
It is mainly used for glass and ceramics, and can also be used to produce potash fertilizer, and potassium feldspar with better quality is used for making TV picture glass shell.
Potassium feldspar: K2O.Al2O3.6SiO2, in which K2O 9.55%, Al2O3 16%, SiO2 70%, density 2.56g/cm 3, Moir hardness 6, monoclinic system, white, red, milk white, and melting point 1290. C.
The most common mineral in the earth's crust is feldspar, which is also found on the moon and meteorites. Within the depth of 15 km underground, feldspar accounts for 60% of the total crustal weight. Feldspar is the main constituent of igneous rock, and is also common in metamorphic rocks and sedimentary rocks. Feldspar is a kind of aluminosilicate mineral containing calcium, sodium and potassium. It has many kinds, such as albite, calcite, barium feldspar, barium feldspar, micro plagioclase, ortho feldspar, and feldspar. They all have glassy luster, various colors, colorless, white, yellow, pink, green, gray, black and so on. Some are transparent and some are translucent. Feldspar itself should be colorless and transparent. It is colored or not completely transparent because it contains other impurities. Some are lumpy, some are plate shaped, some are columnar or needle shaped. Usually in igneous rocks and metamorphic rocks, the feldspar is very small, only 0.1 to 10 millimeters, up to 5~10 centimeters in the porphyry, and some in the pegmatite of some tens of meters. Feldspar is a raw material for ceramics and glass industry. Some feldspars have beautiful colourful or faint colors, and can be used as gem materials.
