A new vermiculite roaster has been developed by Irkutsk State University of technology, Russia.

According to a recent report by the National Technical University of Irkutsk, the university has successfully developed a new type of vermiculite roasting electric furnace with the Portage College, which has been supported by the 850 thousand ruble innovation project in yel cate state.
18 patents have been patented. Compared with the vermiculite roaster developed by the college in 2003, the new calciner can save the roasting power consumption of 50-60%, that is, from the original 250 MB / m3 to 140 megabytes / cubic meters, the performance of this parameter is currently the only in the world.
Vermiculite is a natural, non-toxic, and no side effects mineral. It has high refractoriness and low density. When vermiculite is heated to 300 degrees, it can expand 30 times. Vermiculite can be used as building material, adsorbent, fire insulation material, soil conditioner, and can also be used for packaging and transportation of dangerous goods.
The annual demand for Russian expansive vermiculite is about 40-50 million cubic meters, increasing by 9-13% per year.
